The Mineforce Australia Berth 8 Project Team at the Townsville Port is committing their faces to the global campaign, ‘Movember’.
For 30 days this month various members in the team will grow and groom their Mo’s to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically depression and prostate and testicular cancer.
The team have registered online and set up a Mo Space where updates and photos will be posted, and donations can be received – mobro.co/mineforceaustralia
Project Manager, Jason Fitzgerald, is also part of the challenge and says it’s a very worthwhile cause close to so many people, and a great excuse to let the hair grow.
“Most of our workforce is male so this is a great initiative for the company to be involved in. It's also heaps of fun and a fantastic way to unite the team. We will be looking to raise as much awareness as possible throughout the company and also the community about men’s health. Everyone’s support will be greatly appreciated.”
Movember aims to change the face of men’s health by giving men the opportunity to learn and talk about health more openly and take action.
The funds raised are directed to programs run by Movember and men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and BeyondBlue: the national depression initiative.
With humble beginnings in Melbourne in 2003, Movember is now the largest non-government funder of prostate cancer in the world, with millions participating in the crusade around the globe each November.
We look forward to reporting on the results at the end of the month, and showcasing many of the amusing and killer Mo’s sprouting on the faces of the men.
